Special Small-Scale Cases
Solving the 'climate problem' will entail massive deployment of enormous pieces of machinery. But there is still a role for millions of smaller systems, and I am regularly asked to advise about rationalising energy use in sometimes unexpected places. Here are some examples.

In 2018 I claimed in a lecture that the switch from open coal fires to gas central heating was one of the biggest jumps in environmental quality, but rarely acknowledged as such.
